Project Summary

Area: 1,095sqkm
Location: 35km East of Warri, Niger Delta

Salvic was appointed Technical Services Provider and Adviser, to handle all operations and technical support services on behalf of Heritage Energy Operating Services Limited, including management of the Trans Forcados Pipeline (TFP).

Asset Description

OML30 is located in the Niger Delta, about 35km East of Warri. It is Nigeria’s second largest onshore Oil & Gas asset with reserves estimated at about 1 billion barrels of oil. It covers an area of about 1,095sqkm, comprising 11 fields, 9 flow-stations, the Ughelli Pump Station (UPS), the Trans Forcados Pipeline (TFP) and is home to 110 Host Communities.

Achievements
Rehabilitation of the Trans Forcados Pipeline (TFP) and Sustaining 86% Uptime

The TFP was restored in record time of less than three months with an uptime of over 86% throughout the year. Salvic’s strategy of engaging grassroots communities as surveillance contractors also minimised security issues and nurtured long-term goodwill with communities.

Crude Oil Production from Zero to 75,000 barrels per day (bpd)

Salvic successfully ramped up production from zero in April 2017 to 75,000 bpd by end December 2017. This exponential increase was achieved without drilling any new wells, but utilizing a robust work programme of creative and innovative solutions to optimize production and unlock value from existing Wells, Reservoirs and Facilities.

Peaceful Community Relations & Socio-Economic Impact

Recognising the host communities as critical stakeholders, Salvic’s guiding principle was to create an operating environment from which all stakeholders can benefit. The strategy was to proactively and regularly engage all 110 Host Communities, through their leadership – President Generals and Traditional Rulers, Youth Leaders and other influencers – to carry them along on issues of shared prosperity and a sustainable future.

Salvic changed the practice of treating community workers as casual labour by converting them to permanent employees with full employment benefits.

The 2017 Global Memorandum of Understanding (GMOU) was fully funded, thus empowering Communities to execute socio-economic development projects. A total of 148 projects were awarded and by the first quarter of 2018, 112 projects were ready for commissioning.

Health, Safety, Security & Environment (HSSE)

Salvic developed and embedded a robust Health, Safety, Security & Environment policy throughout all aspects of operations. Guided by the principle that safety of both personnel and equipment is paramount, HSSE incidents were kept to a minimum and by February 2018, the company had achieved a total of over 1.1 million Loss Time Injury–Free Man-hours.
